We had a great experience with New Slate! Yes, there were a few minor communication hiccups due to how busy of a schedule these guys run...but the end result was worth it!
Our garage was converted into a 2 bedroom apartment. Tim came up with ideas that other contractors did not think about. He also gave us more for the money! The space is beautiful and we get compliments on it all the time!!!

My home was flooded with a few inches of water during Hurricane Harvey. During the repairs and remediation, plumbing and other needed repairs for this 1979 house were discovered leading to the decision to do a full home renovation. Tim Kirby responded promptly when I contacted him to evaluate the home, discuss what I wanted and what he saw that was needed, and provided a quote that I felt was reasonable. He and Heather provided excellent suggestions to open up the home, improve the layout and modernize both bathrooms and kitchen while keeping some of the features that maintained the home's character. During the demolition and renovation process, Tim maintained regular contact, was always accessible, met with me weekly to review progress and confirm next steps and timeline. His tradesmen did an outstanding job on the tile work (really the show piece of the entire project), wall texturing and painting, and repairing of multiple plumbing issues. All of his crew were extremely courteous and professional whenever I came by to check in and were patient to answer my questions and explain how things were going, etc. They arrived on schedule, ON TIME, and cleaned the work site at the end of every day. He has a very keen eye for detail and high standards for what meets his expectations so corrections were made during and not after the project ended. Because of this, when I moved back in, the follow up punch list of things I found still needing attention was very short (less than a dozen items) and all very minor such as adjusting the hang of a cabinet door. I have referred several friends and family members to New Slate and they have all been very happy with the work. It's just an amazing feeling to come through a home renovation project (particularly after a hurricane) without a horrible contractor story. So grateful my home is no longer dark and ugly inside.

Tim and his team at New Slate Properties are the best! Repairs and upgrades were made to my dad's house that flooded in Harvey; they lost everything from the ground and up four feet. My dad is in his 80s, and the flood was extremely stressful for him. Tim and his team treated him with the utmost respect and kindness. The pricing was fabulous, especially considering the numerous upgrades that were made. Attention was paid to every detail, not the least of which was building lower cabinets to match the custom upper cabinets that weren't damaged. Tim not only performed under his contract, he went above and beyond. After meeting with several other contractors, I was afraid that I wasn't going to find anyone that I could trust AND who knew how to do the repairs. I was very fearful that my dad would be taken advantage of. Tim put all of my worries at ease. He is honest, knows home construction, and offers excellent suggestions. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I would recommend Tim and New Slate Properties to anyone who asks for a contractor. I've already recommended him to a friend that wants to do some remodeling!

I can not say enough good things about Tim and his team at New Slate Properties.
Thanks to Hurricane Harvey, for the first time in 50 years my 74 year old mom's home was filled with a foot of water.
We needed to:
1. Find someone we could trust who would not try to take advantage of the situation or a nervous senior.
2. Find someone that would help guide her in this process
3. Find someone that would be patient while she works through the SBA loan process (the loan process is a big pain in the ass)
New Slate Properties was recommended by one of the architects my husband works with, who was working with them to rebuild his mother's house as well.
I contacted Tim and we met with an associate of Tim's, Heather, who did a walk through of the house to get measurements and talked a little about what my mom was wanting in her house rebuild. My mom instantly liked Heather, she made her feel comfortable and eased both of our worries. Tim sent us an estimate for the job within a few days. After previously meeting with a few other contractors and looking at their bids, we felt like Tim's was not only very fair but we felt very good about working with Tim and Heather. We met with Tim to sign the contract and to talk about how the rebuild would go knowing that we have the SBA loan process to work through as well. If you aren't aware how that process works they do not give you all of your loan money up front, they have to meet with the contractor with the bid in hand, they release the money in $25k increments after doing numerous inspections to make sure the work is being done on the property that was affected. Knowing this Tim was still willing to work with us which says a lot about him. He gave us a start date the next week and said not to worry we will get through this together even if we have a lull in construction while waiting on the loan.
The remodel has gone very well! Their work is of high quality and the pay attention to details. The crew of guys working at the house has been great. Heather and Tim have done exactly what we were hoping and have helped guide my mom through this process of the rebuild. They've helped her pick out materials and have made her aware of what was happening next and what trade would be at the house. It's been great to see progress every day even while waiting on the next the SBA check to come through.
New Slate Properties has made this process easy not only for my mom but also for myself and my siblings who do live in the area. Knowing that she's being taken care of and in good hands is comforting and priceless!

New Slate Properties (Tim Kirby) came highly recommended to me after my house was flooded by Hurricane Harvey.
Every wall and all of my lower cabinets had to be replaced. After having disappointing results from 2 other contractors, I called New Slate Properties and made an appointment for them to come out and give me an estimate.
Tim and his business partner Heather showed up on time and meticulously walked my house while taking notes and measuring every inch.
They took the time to listen to my wants and needs with the rebuild. They also made a few design suggestions of their own (so glad I listened).
The communication between Tim and team exceeded my expectations. They showed up every day ON TIME and made sure everything was cleaned up at the end of every day.
Their craftsmanship and attention to detail was impressive. I had ship-lap added to my guest bathroom walls and also on one wall in my den as an accent wall in, I LOVE IT!!! My kitchen looks amazing, fresh and current!
New Slate Properties are professional, talented and honest, and I highly recommend them to anyone needing any type of rebuild or remodeling work done on their home or office.

We were sadly a victim of Hurricane Harvey in August 2017 and as we currently live overseas, I needed to entrust the services of a contractor who could be trusted to oversee the large reconstruction of our home in my absence. I interviewed several contractors and Tim Kirby (New Slate Properties) was the only contractor who took the time to sit with me, listen to my concerns, and walk through the house making suggestions for the rebuild. He then introduced me to his associate Heather, who also walked through the house taking measurements and again making suggestions on how we could rebuild.
Fortunately, we did have flood insurance, but Tim did not try to inflate his bid as previous contractors had tried to, and we felt his was fair for the worked needed.
Both Tim and Heather took me to personally pick out various materials before any work even commenced. They explained the step by step process of the rebuild, introduced me to the project manager Daniel and various sub contractors who would be working on the house.
With me flying back and forth, Tim has kept me up to date with progress reports, photographs and always ready to answer any questions I may have.
Tim's attention to detail has been invaluable and so far they have made this difficult situation an easy process.
I would highly recommend New Slate Properties.
